Nature's Biology

Just before sunset
On a mid-summer day I saw
A bunch of geese being fed
By a few children and their parents
From the shores of a man made lake
In the famous Veterans Park
In Hamilton, New Jersey.

A heavy built goose from yonder
Rushed to catch the feed
Pushing aside violently
All the other geese on its way.

A good example of Survival of the Fittest,
I said to my wife standing by my side.

Just then a mother duck happened to show
Her new born baby ducklings
How to get to the feed
Rather than feeding them directly herself
While other adult ducks too shared the grain
Without fight or struggle.

Inter-species and Intra-species
Competition and Co-operation
Amidst Good and Evil
In all their Shades of Gray
That's the Law in Nature's Biology,
Not just the Survival of the Fittest,
I said to my wife standing by my side.
