Father's Love and Love for Fathers

Round and round they were swimming
Making larger and larger ripples
As if it was all only for fun.

Watching them from the shore
As if concerned about their safety
And in preparation to jump in if needed,
Their mother seemed quiet and still
As if in deep meditation.

What will they be when they grow up?
Will they be as happy as they are now?
Will they be able to confront life's
Ups and downs
With courage and confidence
As I am still struggling to do?

Whatever will be will be
Que sera sera
She seemed to be singing to herself.

What a strange paradox! I thought.
Mother's love is so very Universal
And so very much a Natural Instinct
Being so very closely tied
To the intense reproductive
And progeny-protective urges
Of the female in Nature on Earth.

The love of Fathers
On the other hand,
A uniquely human trait
Finds its expression in many a dimension
As the fathers learn to care and participate
In the upbringing of their offspring,

And so,
Make it Deeper and Warmer
As time passes
Your love for your Fathers
Or Father substitutes
All of you Kids everywhere.

Make it Warmer and Deeper
As time passes
Your love for your Kids
All of you Fathers
Or Father substitutes.

Happy Father's day.

P.S.

Guess who the mother and her children in this poem are. Ducks in a manmade lake.
